Astronomy
This course offers an enthralling journey into the universe, exploring the fundamentals of astronomy and humanity’s ever-evolving understanding of the cosmos.
Astronomy Juniors
- Age Group
- Grades 4 and 5
Aim
Astronomy Juniors gives younger students a hands-on, multidisciplinary first look at the universe, blending physics, mathematics, and engineering into an experience built for curiosity rather than complexity. Starting with the fundamentals of gravity, planetary environments, and atmospheric science, the course moves into lunar exploration and India's Chandrayaan missions, then culminates with an introduction to optics and how telescopes let us see distant worlds. Along the way, students build a sense of planetary stewardship, understanding Earth's place in the wider cosmos.
Course Description
Kits
A build-and-explore kit designed for young hands and big curiosity:
- DIY paper models - Hubble Space Telescope, James Webb Space Telescope, and India's PSLV
- Hanging Solar System model - visualising planetary arrangement and scale
- Zodiac constellations wooden model - introducing the Sun-Earth system and apparent solar motion
- Guided activity sets - structured exploration to keep curiosity active throughout the course
Course Benefits
Astronomy Juniors gives students more than an introduction to space, it develops the habits of curiosity, observation, and exploration that form the foundation of scientific thinking. Through hands-on activities and guided discovery, students begin learning how to make sense of the world around them, communicate what they observe, and connect scientific ideas with real missions and discoveries.
- Scientific thinking: learns to observe, question, and make sense of simple scientific phenomena.
- Observation & reasoning: develops pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, and evidence-based thinking.
- Hands-on STEM skills: builds confidence through models, activities, and practical exploration.
- Space & planetary awareness: understands Earth's place in the Solar System and the wider universe.
- Communication: learns to record, explain, and share observations and ideas.
